Bernardas Bagdanavicius.

Prototype [432] Project” is a study of dodecaphonic composition methodology and it is directly related to concrete work of Arnold Schoenberg, Concert for Piano and Orchestra, Opus 42. Concept:It cannot be a number but it should represent any convenient numeric group combination contented into the virtual numerical structure.

Coolturistes.

Monika, or Thank You Very Much for Your Attention”, Video.Monika is an art critic, who has been working as a flight attendant at the Emirates Airlines. She shows the instructions of the safe trip in slow motion. The generation of “Singing Revolution” is now changing uniforms and identities to become “New Europeans”. The soundtrack is composed by appropriating the anthem of European Union – Ode to Joy from the 9th Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven. The music is slowed down two times; it became an ironic comment on a grand narrative of the “New Europe”.

Mindaugas Gapsevicius.

Bookshelf”. Rapid flow of letters and numbers on a monitor wall has nothing to do with chaos theory which can cause big disruptions in our world. It has also nothing to do with hackers world as one would like to say. Bookshelf represents a network traffic translated into descriptive form, so the unseen side of “networking” would be understandable or at least readable. In a technical terms the flow of letters and numbers on the monitors would sound like ‘tcpdump’, a common computer network debugging tool.

Patricija Gilyte.

The grove of Anyksciai”, (“Anyksciu silelis”), Videoinstallation.The video, that is shown in the exhibiton, is based on a classical work of Lithuanian poetry, the poem “The forest of Anyksciai” by A. Baranauskas written in 1858. The forest is a frequent theme in Lithuanian literature and still an important part of the national identity. Dealing with a poetry sphere on a video level, Gilyte creates an image of a shifting, migrating forest. She integrates the emigrants voices and bodies (also her own body) as resources, to let them appear in slightly modified combinations.

Gediminas Kepalas.

Migrating Reality”, 2 Channel Video, 2005-2008. “(…)the history repeats itself(…)” The parallels between two situations - the demolition of “Republic’s Palace” in Berlin and the (re)building of new one, “Lithuania’s Sovereigns Palace” in Vilnius. The Project questions the necessity of self-dependense representation forms in contemporary democratic society. Vox Populi.

Zorka Lednarova.

Signs & Locations - Building Global Cubes”, an interactive installation consists of several dice-form objects, which remind the ”fairy-tale-puzzle” from childhood. Combining all objects together, there is a possibility to see six different world maps: political world map, statistics of education, economic map, corruption map, world type-style mapping and world culture map. The viewer is free to move and mix the objects creating new variable constellations of world map.

Videoloop “The Shore” (“Krantas”). “September 1991. We’ve met in Nida, at the Baltic Seaside. We’ve got to move to the south and have been stopped by russian border signs. Not so far away from the border we have started to build something between the camp and baricade…It was lasting for the week. But it seems, that it lasts till now, all the time..”


Audrius Mickevicius.

The symposium “Migrating Birds” (“Migruojantys pauksciai”) with main topic “Migration” took place in Lithuania, July 2007. This project was supported by the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 15 artists from Lithuania, UK, Germany, Belgium, Poland and France took place in it. In the video material the participants thoughts about migration are compared with official statistical data from Lithuania’s Government Statistic Department.


Gytis Skudzinskas.

Traces”. The Traces cycle, which began evolving in 1999, places its focus on the territories inhabited by people. The exploration and transformation of urban spaces is connected to the organization, migration, communication and self-awareness of communities and individuals. On the one hand, the cycle is a collection of non-representative cityscape schemes, functioning as a typology of architectural spaces. On the other hand, the multitude of images allows one to look for dominant models and a common denominator between different humanized spaces. Intentionally omitting the representative city locations, which often are essentially symbols of institutionalized power, Traces seeks to mark the outer limits of personal experiences in the present situation.

Aurimas Svedas.

Still life”, 3d Animation. “…The work is minimal and meditative, but includes the complexity of multi-meanings, which are linked not so much with social problematics, but are questioning the definition of “reality/virtuality” and changeability of it in the time and memory space.”

Julijonas Urbonas.

Wind Orchestra”, Interactive graphic-sonic art installation. The project designs a multisensory interpretation of a wind orchestra as a collective sonic interaction. Here everybody may join the electronic orchestra and manipulate his/her own vocal records by blowing onto the pinwheel. The collective coordination of the musical loops is visualized within the dynamic and responsive graphics. The aim of the installation is to find new interfaces between music, graphics, social coordination and lungs.
